maybe the problem not with qmailadmin but your ezmlm install..

i use debian (woody) as well

dpkg -l | grep ezm
ii  ezmlm-idx      0.53-6         easy-to-use high-speed mailing list
manager

what's happen when you create a list by shell account, not by qmailadmin?
