Thanks to Tom Collins and others for their input - no more dreaded File Error 6 - upgraded from RH 7.3 to Enterprise and upgraded all of my packages - everything working famously with qmailadmin for all users.

Really appreciate the input...

I am running RedHat 7.3 and qmailadmin 1.0.6. I had been running a web/mail server for fun for a couple of years and I'm beginning to host a few sites. Two of my clients cannot log into Qmailadmin and get, what they describe, as "File error 6". Actually they can get in but when they choose any options (eg. "add email", etc.) they recieve this error message. I read one post that described this (not another thing on Google, Yahoo, etc.) and it said to rebuild qmailadmin with the flag "--disable-authip (ir "ipauth""; I did that and it didn't help...

Would an upgraded version of Linux or Qmailadmin fix this problem? I'm no linux whiz and I really don;t want to upgrade as it's a real pain for me to find all of the perl-mods for spamassassin, etc. - all of that is running on my sytem now....

Good idea to upgrade. Vpopmail 5.4 includes lots of security and bug fixes over 5.2.1, QmailAdmin 1.2 has vast improvements on 1.0.6.

The solution to your problem is to configure qmailadming with
--disable-ipauth option. This should work with 1.0.6 until you get
around to updating your system.
