You won't see much in the smtp (or submission) log. The problem is occurring on the outbound side of the toaster, which will be in the send log. Is there any indication there? If not, the only thing I can think of would be to turn on recordio on the send daemon and see what they're saying to each other. You can find instructions on using recordio in the list archives. Would be nice to have that on the wiki.
