I installed 1.4.13, same as Philip.
Installed fine on a fresh CentOS 5 install, no issues whatsoever.

My spamassassin-toaster actually installed fine on CentOS 5 with (I
presume) MakeMaker 6.30, however have just updated it to 6.44 the way
you recommended to prevent any further issues.
