this would be seconded by just about anyone over on the centos mail
list...i say this after lurking over there for 2 years. the package
manager (rpm) has no info on modules installed by the cpan method, so they
might as well not exist, let alone problems introduced by newer versions
installed by cpan.
it follows that all perl dependencies for the toaster (introduced as
required by the current spamassassin, whatever) should have available
packages in the rpmforge repo to make this as painless as possible. dag
already builds many perl packages, let him know what else we need.

If this moves forward, please install the repo as 'enabled=0' then install
dependencies scripting-wise via 'yum install enablerepo=rpmforge blah blah
blah'.
even though dag is a developer/contributor over at the centos project and
rpmforge is deemed safe as a 3rd party repo, most on the list over there
advise the use of yum-priorities to keep 3rd-party stuff from over-riding
or overwriting packages from base/update. this is how you keep stable
centos stable, by keeping it as close to pristine as possible.
