I interpreted his question as asking me if I was using any 'free dns' services like 8.8.8.8 in my /etc/resolv.conf I am not utilizing any external DNS services.  My /etc/resolv.conf has a single entry: 127.0.0.1 On my machine, I am running bind9. It listens on 127.0.0.1 and is configured to allow recursive lookups for requests from 127.0.0.1.
