I interpreted his question as asking me if I was using any 'free dns' services like 8.8.8.8 in my /etc/resolv.conf

I am not utilizing any external DNS services.

My /etc/resolv.conf has a single entry: 127.0.0.1

On my machine, I am running bind9. It listens on 127.0.0.1 and is configured to allow recursive lookups for requests from 127.0.0.1. It does not have any forwarders configured, so it handles all DNS queries itself.

This has been my config since I built the box a year ago.

I am running a local copy of bind 9 on the server, and it is used for all lookups.

Has anyone else has problems with zen.spamhaus.org
