That is a joke, yes?

Look at the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_date
and specifically at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_date#m.2Fd.2Fyy_.28month.2C_day.2C_year.29

Hmmm. Canada and the US (though Canada use a variety of forms) plus a couple of
minor states. Not really a majority by country count.

I hoped that qooxdoo, being a European based product, would not fall into the
trap of being US-centric.

Anyway, setting up en_GB works fine.

There is still the issue of the short date format not being shown in the
localization page of the Showcase. And en_GB should be added to the list of
locales available for viewing on that page.

This all came about because of wanting to use the DateChooserButton on a
dialog, and finding the date was in the wrong format. That raises another issue
- that DateChooserButton always treats the date in the locale-specific "short"
format. So I've raised http://bugzilla.qooxdoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339
requesting an enhancement to make the date format specifable for the date
chooser.
