Hi Christian,

if you happen to do such an extensive work on it, you should consider 
offering it as an own PHP4 RPC backend contribution. Surely there will 
be enough people out there being in the same calamity as we are. I for 
now have my backend fixed and running, and the next project will be on a 
PHP5 server for heaven's sake...

So from my point of view there's no need to hurry, but if you'd release 
a dedicated PHP4 backend someday, surely qooxdoo would profit.
