IE really is so slow but there are a few things you can do:

1. Reuse widgets. For example if you have a dialog you have to display 
repeatedly, just store a reference to the once created dialog widget 
instead of reconstructing it each time.
2. Use the build version. Some of the optimizations are especially 
useful for IE
