Hi guys I missed Franz's original email somehow... Yes, I would *definitely* be interested in contributing some funding (I'm self employed so exactly cash rich) but I'd like some way of directing where my money went - IMHO some big "committee of funded projects" wouldn't work, but it would be interesting to develop a marketplace that would encourage contribs.
EG We work together to define projects; anyone can donate to a project, and anyone can submit a solution. The project donors get to vote on which solution (if any) meet the project requirements, and which is best - maybe this could be arbitrated by the 1&1 Qx team if there's a dispute. A project can be anything - code, documentation, support but the more people want and donate the project, the more reward there would be available. The only requirements would be that (a) the project must be OS contrib'd to Qx, (b) the project is democratic but the bigger the prize you donate == the more vote you have, and (c) disputes are arbitrated by the 1&1 Qx team.
