Fritz,

>> Yes, this question is highly adequate.

>Which one? I guess I missed some eMail?

The question about adding resources as money and work.

>> We are willing to put resources as a dedicated person(s) on solving the

>Which issues are you interested in getting solved (assuming you don't have
>"unlimited" resources available)?

There are many things. I don't need to create the same list which has already
been piped here before.
Haven't you seen that list??? Ask the core team to publish it again. If you are
not aware of it,
there is a bunch of bugs needed to be solved. The list is not empty, is it?

Do I have to mention anything more? I think it is enough.

>> But to do that we need to have some better "control" of delivery to the

>Better than a completely open contrib tree?

It is NOT completely open at the moment. Don't you see that? If you don't
realise it, then surf into
other long-lasting open source projects and see what they mean by openness. It
is not necessary
to say anything more cause it is clear by itself.

We want it to become more open! It means to let dedicated resources be added to
the core team.

>I would be very worried if there wasn't rather tight (quality) control about

Why are you debating this question? Has anyone said that you are wrong about it?

Your reasoning is an incomplete disjunction.

>I admit that I'd like to get more contributions integrated into the core,
>but this also means more effort for maintenance, porting to new releases,
>etc, and this might well go beyond the capacity of the core team.

So....you admit you want more.
and...you admit that it might be beyond the capacity of the core team....
...so what is your solution? Sit and wait for well-cooked birds fly into your
mouth
or....actively add resources to the project? Is your company willing to add
dedicated resources?

>I would believe that 1&1 would consider admitting a few community members to
>extend their core team (even with commit rights), at least it is my fantasy
>that Derrell might be such a "beast". But even for that, a tight integration
>with the core team would be a must in my opinion.

Great that you also have come to the point that it is necessary to increase the
resources, but
Derrell is already dedicated though he has not been fully accepted and trusted
as a normal core
member. Thanks Derrell for all you have done and your patience. He is a perfect
example how much a
dedicated individual can do.

>But I'd rather have less in the framework than un- or poorly maintained
>code.

Who says it will be worse with 12 in the core team instead of 6? How do you
know that it will
become poorly maintained without knowing the persons who might be part of it? I
can not see
anything else, than you are referring to yourself, but don't do that cause it
might be a mistake.

This mathematics is quite simple. I don't need to convince you that 2 do more
than one if they
are more or less equal in most aspects. 12 do a lot more than 6 and so on.

You seem to have strong opinions. How can the community use these strong
opinions into more
 and better code?

Stefan

Cheers,
Fritz
