Peter Passchier confirmed that the question is solved:
How annoying to have a bug in your build system that nobody seems to be
able to solve... But your advice worked, and the pop-up full paths in
the menu work now! Thanks so much for making qpdfview awesome! (It did
forget my opened tabs after the new install, but my other settings seem
to have been preserved...)
