-ERR Unknown command: "g". ?

Hi,

I have compiled qpopper 3.1.2 on a Solaris 8 machine and tried to 
connect to port 995 from Mozilla. The qpopper log shows:

-ERR Unknown command: "g".

I could not find any information about this. I would be grateful for any 
hints.
