John <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the qrplist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ONLY on QRP-L could you have a 15 message long thread on "How Big is Your CW Jack?" I am amazed it didn't degenerate into a flame-fest between the "1/4" jack and the "1/8" jack devotees. I am waiting for Karl's mathematical analysis as to why the jack on his FT-817 is better than the others.

Well, that can't happen until the QRP powers that be decide to establish a CW Jack standard.

I received an "interesting" email in relation to my post here about the subject.

The language of the post isn't something that I wish to have emailed to the entire list, but considering the source, the language and mean-spirited nature isn't surprizing at all.

BTW, broke down and got one of those cheap IC-703's just to compare. Even
without the CW filter (which is coming), the receiver beats the FT-817 by
a wide margin.

I don't have an 817...but I'd be intererested in a comparison between that rig and a K2 and a QRP+, both of which I have here.
