W2AGN <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the qrplist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- If you still have any doubt about the ARRL Bandplan, here are the comments of Howard Teller, who was a member of the AdHoc Digital Committee that came up with this crap. He is also the inventor of the Digipan Software.

As one of the two dissenting members of the AD HOC Hfdigital committee, I know from the inside how the proposed petition came about, and I am hoping that offering the proposal for comments before formally presenting it to the FCC, as the ARRL usually does, may possibly be a death wish for the petition as a way out of an unwanted political situation, but we only hope so. The numbers for and numbers against the petition may be important in determining whether it goes forward or not, and the special interest group that wants it has almost 5000 members and has already posted a bulletin on their network asking them to vote for the petition because it is "a wonderful petition" (for them!) and if they do not, they may have their email cut off! How are the rest of us going to get more than 5000 votes against it, if that is what counts? We have to try, so I hope you can encourage everyone you meet on the air or via a relfector or forum, to write to the ARRL and insist that the petition be withdrawn and a replacement offered that represents ALL interests, instead of primarily those of a special interest group that amounts to less than 1% of the FCC-licensed radio amateurs, and that wants ALL of the 160 meter band for unattended Robot transmitters, instead of just asking for a small piece. 73, Skip KH6TY AD HOC Hfdigital committee member ------------------------ Is there any doubt that once again the ARRL is screwing the general ham populace in favor of a special interest group? I would have no objection if someone passed this to QRP-L, but I am sure you would be "moderated" for doing so. -- +-+ +-+ +-+ +-+ +-+ John L.
