W2AGN <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the qrplist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Well Gang, my old buddy Lloyd almost got his wish this time.
I had planned to haul my TRC-77 Surplus CW rig out to play MQFD the last weekend on October. Saturday it rained all day, and Sunday..well, I didn't feel quite 100%. Monday morning I awoke at 6:0AM...and I couldn't breathe very well. Having been through this twice before, I just tried to relax, and slowly I was able to get my breath. I had the XYL take me to the ER. Sure enough, the left lung had collapsed for the third time. They put me in semi-ICU until Tuesday morning, when I had Thoracic surgery to try to repair the cause of the problem. After looking at it, though, the surgeon told me he could see nothing wrong with the lung, no blisters, "blebs" etc. He did do a "Pleurodeisis," which consists of deflating the lung, and then chemically "burning" the lining of the chest so when the lung is reinflated it "sticks" to the lining, preventing collapse. Fortunately, I was asleep for that part ;-) When I awoke in recovery, I had found a cure to my usual high blood pressure ;-) My pressure was 65/35 and they were pumping IV into me very fast. Guess the lung surgery was pretty bloody. Glad I didn't have to watch! Got Chest tube taken out on Saturday morning, and was released Saturday afternoon. Yes, I feel like a very clumsy elephant stepped on my chest, I am weak and dizzy (more than usual) and can barely walk to the bathroom, let alone do antenna work (or go fishing). Hopefully, this will pass. So, for now, still around to piss people off! -- +-+ +-+ +-+ +-+ +-+ John L.
