Paul, It does http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/c6iqYxjhi but only through the computers microphone which is of course problematic if playing a video through speakers and recording audio through mike, the pro (paid) version permits adding audio tracks recorded using something else.
screencast-o-matic is not really a tool for ripping youtube or other videos but for creating short screen activity tutorials, if you are after youtube recordings I would suggest there are many better ways of doing that, I use this plugin for firefox http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/25105 as I need mostly mp4 conversions to play in keynote but there are plug ins more associated for PC's available for all browsers and some website based solutions. If you just want a section of a youtube video as you describe you could use http://www.tubechop.com/ regards Jason Dr Jason Zagami BSc GradDipEd MEd PhD FACE ACCE Associate Lecturer, School of Education and Professional Studies, Gold Coast campus GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY QLD 4222 AUSTRALIA Phone: 61 7 5552 8454 Fax: 61 7 5552 8599 [email protected] www.zagami.info @jzagami SL Zolt Wind Australian College of Educators Regional President (Gold Coast) (ACE) Queensland Society for Information Technology in Education President (QSITE) Australian Council for Computers in Education board (ACCE) HP Innovations in Education Australia Mentor (IIE) Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) Google Certified Teacher (GCT) "What nobler employment, or more valuable to the state, than that of the man who instructs the rising generation?" - Cicero "Teaching - the act of constantly changing student minds" - Zagami On 30 April 2011 08:43, paul <[email protected]> wrote: > Jason > > I've had a play with http://www.screencast-o-matic.com, on several PCs. > > Is it able to record audio and video from (for example) YouTube - say you > only need a 10 sec grab from a presentation?
