It is the usual argument that as teachers we have degrees in our specialist areas but are still required to gain a Cert IV that says that we can teach and assess students according to a training package. Very degrading but we are told that it is a requirement. It has cost my school so far about $3500 to get teachers their Cert IVs which also annoys me; money that could be spent on teaching resources instead. I am about to have an external audit and am floundering in all the paperwork that has to be presented. I just bet that my teachers will have problems proving that they are capable of teaching VET because it is difficult in a small school to release teachers to go and do work placement. At least they will have their TAE Cert IVs. I need to stop ranting. My reading of the IBSA website is that is TAE40110 is equivalent to the TAA40104 for the purposes of AQTF compliance . Does anyone know the true situation and what I must do ?
