Yes, that is exactly what I tell my VET staff and we do fill our staff
profiles.

Karen
they don't necessarily need to go and do work placement.

I've just come through an external audit relatively unscathed. For the Cert
II in IT, we listed activities that we do that would directly relate back to
the Training Package.

But in Business, you could list:

* any moderation, verification meetings you attend

* any minute taking for sporting organisations or school committees

*       professional readings

* contribution to/or involvement with BEAQ list

* conferences where you network with business

* development of documents as part of course preparation

* mentoring other staff in document production

I'm no business package expert, but I'll bet your team already do heaps to
satisfy the people with green pens.

I see it as a necessary evil if a school wants to continue as an RTO. It is
the usual argument that as teachers we have degrees in our specialist areas
but are still required to gain a Cert IV that says that we can teach and
assess students according to a training package. Very degrading but we are
told that it is a requirement. It has cost my school so far about $3500 to
get teachers their Cert IVs which also annoys me; money that could be spent
on teaching resources instead.

I am about to have an external audit and am floundering in all the paperwork
that has to be presented. I just bet that my teachers will have problems
proving that they are capable of teaching VET because it is difficult in a
small school to release teachers to go and do work placement. At least they
will have their TAE Cert IVs.

I need to stop ranting.

Hi Ian
I am in the process of getting my teachers upgraded to the TAE. Below I
have put part of the info about MrWed who I have used in the past and to get
my TAE last year. My teachers have gone through Sunshine Coast TAFE this
year through govt funding - only had to pay $236 each. Some of these
teachers did not have any VET qualifications while a couple had the BSZ Cert
IV.

Hi All
I deliver Cert 1 and 2 in IT and I am being told by Admin that I must
upgrade my TAA40104 to the new TAE40110 and I must do it now ( or at least
by June 2012 ). My reading of the IBSA website is that is TAE40110 is
equivalent to the TAA40104 for the purposes of AQTF compliance . Does anyone
know the true situation and what I must do ?
Ian
