Gday Peter, Kim and others
yes, I was originally enquiring about making paper mockups to take them
through the process of design (without necessarily documenting lots - ie
letting the model do the talking)

But it seemed to generate such valuable discussion.....

Kym,
great minds think alike - we use a proforma for our year 10s very similar
(but as a Moodle Quiz) forcing them to have an approved design before they
start developing is a real issue with boys - they go off on a half-baked
idea that comes back to bite them when the complexity kicks in and they
realize (even though you have been telling them) that a little planning
can save a lot of effort
...I actually thought the original post was actually about PAPER - there
is a school of thought that suggests designing the interface from scraps
of paper and demoing game action on those scraps is also instructive
(remember Word Perhect???) abstract to concrete is the bridge - many
tricks make that journey less problematic
...on the other hand you could just FOLD paper too
