I think it might be disappointing to a student if they had to use (what they felt) was an inferior tool to get a piece of assessment done. If it takes care of some aspects easily, perhaps it would be a good chance to modify the assessment for that student to include some higher level thinking? More AI?
The bigger question I think is, are you testing Visual Basic or are you testing programming skills? Lots of arguments for and against :D Regards Damien Kee On 28 May 2011 10:38, Joshua Paech <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi all, > > Our IPT class is using Visual Basic Express for the programming topic, and > next term they will be doing their major project (a game). > > I have a couple of students who have asked if they can use other languages > apart from VB. > > One student (currently on a VHA) has asked about using Visual C#, which I > said will probably be okay, as he would be demonstrating all of the same > skills that he would be if he was using Visual Basic. > > But another student (also a VHA) has asked if he can use something called > 'Danmakufu' which is a game scripting language based on C.
