Hello
Like everyone else, I have been trying to ascertain where senior 'computing'
fits within the Australian curriculum.

QSA have just put out a useful document:

Preparing for the senior years
The Senior Curriculum
Landscape<http://lnk.ie/4VPJ/e=3294/http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/13636.html> paper
provides an overview of how current QSA syllabuses will align with the
Australian Curriculum senior courses. It notes specific issues for each
learning area, giving some considerations for the future.

The paper is at
http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/downloads/approach/aus_curriculum_snr_landcape.pdf

It maps both ITS and IPT into one, Information and Communications Technologies
(Phase 3), which seems to have gathered another 's' on to Communications and
Technology is expanded to Technologies from the ACARA documentation.

I don't think this matters too much. What does matter is
1. "we" are on the national map as an entity in the senior years rather than
subsumed into a mishmash Technologies
2. the two OP subjects we have will be fighting for space - not only against
each other but against the other iterations of this in other states.

There are some interesting times ahead.

Hope you've all had a chance to post your opinion on ICT as a general
capability - the public consultation closes on Monday 8th.

Sorry to spoll everyone's weekend
Marg
