So in order to sort, say, three lines, you do something like <Alt-v><Alt-v>:.,.+2!sort<Return><Alt-v><Alt-v> or <Alt-v><Alt-v><Shift-v><Down><Down>:!sort<Return><Alt-v><Alt-v> ?
