Dave,
about how much do you pay for your plan?  Just a ballpark figure.  I am really considering getting something that will allow me to go out further much safer.  I tried to get out of my house every day, but my nightly constitutional's have diminished due to my wheelchair failing and because I am apprehensive.  I don't want to get stuck somewhere and not be able to call for help.  I am to independent to have someone consistently with me.  This sounds like one of the best answers, but I need to be able to activate the phone by voice.

I love my pay as you go plan.  I use mine for emergencies only so the 40 cents a minute is ok.  To get more minutes, I dial #611 and enter minutes wanted and a credit card number.  Instant more minutes.  Very cool.  If I don't make one call in a month, they charge me $4.00.  (so I call the wife and say "hey goober, phone check")

Hi all,

Well after the massive storm and a "series of unfortunate events" ;-)
I've decided to get a cell phone.  I need a prepay plan and a phone.
There are tons of packages out there, I thought I'd see what plans
others have and what they like.  Verizon is out, they have terrible
customer service.

TIA,
River
