My MO for years has been a reversal where I move in with my caregiver after
locating them through news paper ads. Great solution, especially when a
health issue kept me from being what I could for years. Problem here is you
cannot fire them. My gut feeling says I will have a more fulfilled life on
my own again. Perhaps my recently resolved health issue of years brain
washed me or robbed me of independence confidence in myself.

My belief is with enough money and support, anything is possible for me. In
my day when ambulatory, a strong spirit with much grace saw me through near
anything. I miss this the most of all my losses. I sure respect those here
who have accomplished and made something anew in their lives opposed to
adapting to it.

I'm married now. but, I lived alone for 14 years (c-3/4 complete).
Nighttime was always the most difficult for me. Obviously though, it can be
done. For me I have an ECU (Sicare pilot) which operated a telephone,
heating blanket (ON MY SHOULDERS ONLY), fan, TV, VCR, etc. Then, as a
supplement - a Lifeline bite switch hanging above me. Lastly, a straw going
to a water mug.

I am always wondering how higher spinal injured people do it alone. There
must be a great support group. I do not but I wonder if that is only my
fear in spite of technology. Must take a lot of trust to newly met people.

Hi Linda,

How do you get by living alone at night? Do you sleep on an air mattress so
you can avoid different sleeping positions? Do you wear a life line? Sorry
for all the questions, just curious.
