Regarding Windows 7 speech recognition software: I tried this some time ago
and had no luck whatsoever.

Regarding running Dragon NaturallySpeaking under Windows 7: I have no idea
about that one. I am running XP Pro.

Re: microphones: I recently updated a "shotgun" microphone. I can sit up to
6 away from it and Dragon NaturallySpeaking works just fine. The microphone
I am using is an ATR6550 shotgun microphone from Audio-Technica. The
microphone sells for about 70 dollars or so (e.g. from Amazon.com) and you
need to buy a microphone stand. I have found that Dragon works better with
this microphone rather than my own headset. The thing I like most is that
I'm no longer connected by a cable to my computer. I can cruise into the
other room to say hello to someone and pull back up to my computer whenever
I like.

no speech recognition program will work properly unless it's a headset or
microphone is only a few inches away. Which version of Dragon will not work
with Windows 7? Because I was running version 10.1 preferred without any
difficulties and what happened when you tried to use the current version of
Dragon you have?

Anyone use the Windows 7 Speech Recognition program?
I can't really get it to do much. I am only using the built-in mic on my
laptop.
I'll try an old standing mic, but so far I can't get it to do much.
My old Dragon can't work on Windows 7.
