The foot and ankle, are both unique medical science and specialty, unto themselves. I'm sorry to read of your present issues and am truly surprised that your specialist waited so long for a follow-up. First, you have to determine "normal" medical protocol for this type of procedure to determine if its unique or someone failed to do their follow-up. Foot Drop Surgery is a serious procedure and should never be ignored. Take Care of your health and body. Then demand tangible answers to your questions, from those who service you. I personally wished that I could offer you more....... Best Wishes In a message dated 3/21/2014 5:24:55 P.M. Central Daylight Time, daa...@aol.com writes:
Hi wheelchair and quad list members: on Monday. My caregiver noticed that my foot was totally lose. It usually is fixed at a 90° angle. I had foot drop surgery in May of 2012. My ankle was operated on and a fixator was used. It was not checked for eight days and I developed gangrene because it was on too tight. I was in the hospital one month for IVs. Then I had to have a wound vacuum for two months before plastic surgery. I went to KU ER and they thought it was a ruptured tendon and a sent me to a plastic surgeon. He read the x-rays and said my fusion had come apart and he referred me to of orthopedic surgeon. Now I'm not sure what to do. I don't feel comfortable going back to the same Dr. I called my rehab Dr. and left a message and called the original orthopedic Dr. that did my first foot drop surgery in 1980. Do you have any suggestions of what I should do. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem. Or do you know of anyone. I would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations. I have the Imperium 200H ECU base unit plus large remote. It is rocker switch/push button control. List price of base unit from abledata.com is $3580 I'd be interested in selling if anybody is looking for an ECU.
