Nursing Homes are not required to provide electric wheelchairs and they
generally don't.  Independent Living Centers do allow motorized wheelchair.   I
would google, Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in your area for help and
assistance.  If your nursing home receives Federal Funding, they MUST be in
compliance with ADA in allowing motorized wheelchairs.  Don't Take No For An
Answer.

I am in a nursing home and need a motorized wheelchair to be able to not be
stuck in bed 24 seven because I am paralyzed from the neck down.

The administrator says this facility is not equipped to have a motorized
wheelchair.

Because I never leave my room in this place, I have no idea what goes on
outside my room but I just assumed they would have residents tooling around in
their motorized wheelchairs. Apparently no one here has one. At the two other
facilities I was in, people had them.

I think everyone else here is completely demented because I am the only one
here that uses a computer.

Anyway I'm seeking information about how they can legally keep me separated
from the medical equipment I need.
