Sounds like they're ahead of you. It seems you can either try and stop them
cold (the invisible System Folder idea--pretty interesting!) or keep up with
them and find out what they really want to do with their Mac.

 I think it's unrealistic to "lock in" everything. If the user truly is that
dangerous they don't need a computer, they need a typewriter and a library
card.

She either has to, or tell her to keep a log. If that "won't happen" then
perhaps she needs to know she's on her own instead. I think perhaps then the
level of cooperation you receive will go way up!

Look at it this way. Normal software installations should be successful,
right? She has enough knowledge not to be afraid to do some heavy-duty
fiddling around, just not enough to know the consequences. You can help her
with that, or if she won't help you help her--that's what is sounds like is
going on right now--cut her loose.

I think you all know I'm not normally this cold, but some people just need a
nudge of responsibility.
