When that article was written, that was good advice, because Toast wasn't as
efficient and CD burners had little or no built-in cache.

I have *never* used a RAM cache over 8MB for Toast, and I've not yet had a
coaster.  I know plenty of people who've used SE/30s to burn at 2x with no
problems at all without using anything more than the built-in RAM cache on the
CD-R drive.
