The Centris 650 should be just as interchangeable.

I've used a C650 in a Q700 box for some time now, the 3rd nubus slot requires a little hacking if yo need the slot and the speacker plug is a little different but basicly its a straight swap with a noticable speed gain.
The Q700 board dropped just as easily into a IIvi giving it a noticable speed gain. :)
External cd-roms are easy enough if thats needed as is networking the cd from another mac, not 100% useful.
