Hello! I have been reading the posts on the website and have finally found the forum I need to make decisions about my Performa 580 CD. Just a little history, I bought this computer new as a student and love it! Now, it seems worthless. However, from reading the posts I am feeling hope. Basically I need to know if I should buy a new computer or if it will be cheaper to try and upgrade this one and if this is possible. My computer has max ram possible and is operating on 7.5.3. Unfortunately I still only have a 14,4 original modem. I have just switched to Internet Explorer 2.1 from Netscape 4.0 and am much happier. Basically I need to know what to do to make this computer faster and able to do more. (Isn't that what we all want?) I also want to know if it is possible and worth it to get a CD burner? What I do with my computer is: wordprocessing, alot of photos (scan, print, archive, genealogy, graphics using Illustrator and Photoshop...). I need to find software that is compatible with this computer and have not found any used comp shops here that have a variety. Everything is for PCS.
Could you please give me some practical advice? I so appreciate it. If I can save a bit of money I will be thrilled.
