Hi Don, I just overcame a similar problem where a Performa wouldn't mount a CD that I burned using Toast 5 and choosing "Mac OS Extended Format". The player was giving a couple of unusual 'clicks' and showing the same message you got. The burned CD wouldn't mount in my 660av Quad either yet production CD's like MacAddict, or MacWorld would mount on both machines. So next I burned a new CD choosing simply "Mac OS" format (non HFS) this time. The new CD would now mount on the 660av using CD ROM ToolKit; the Performa STILL wouldn't mount this new CD, but at least that message didn't appear either. . . seemed like I was closing in on the problem. Next I started thinking of the utilities, "Mount Everything", "SCSI Ware", "SCSI Probe" but what ultimately brought successful mounting was copying the Mac Drive Setup utility over from my 9500 (on a floppy). Ran the Drive Setup, updating the drive and whatever else was there and the update was reported as successful but called for a restart. I shut down for the night with the CD still in. This morning when I booted up the Performa. . . . what do you know. CD mounted on the desktop! Terry -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
