The Android client is terrible wrt echo cancellation. Not my phone, cause
other apps are fine.
With WebRTC it seems open, multi-platform video/audio conferencing is more
of a reality now. E.g., people have mention jit.si, see:

I havn't tried it. If it worked we could even install it on something
under quagga.net. Though, for some, it seems POTS is needed, and I don't
know of a way to bridge POTS into a Jitsi conference (??).
