Agreed! With the alternator at the front and seeing most of the elements, the
cabling does come in for a bit of a bashing. I had a "no charge" problem that
was chased to the main cable from the alternator to the battery - the terminal
at the alternator end had completely corroded away. I cut up a bit of waste 15
mm copper pipe that was on my bench at the time and made a new wrapped
connection around the copper wire with two layers of copper under the securing
nut then flooded solder into the compressed wrapped connection - no more
problems since.

I think the voltage whilst engine is running should be well over 13v
i.e. nearer 13.8v
If you have no change, then more than likely the alternator is goosed.
Maybe worth an idiot check to ensure good earths, and cabling is OK.
Try checking the voltage at the terminals on the alternator.
