Shall we just say that the guy who inspected my Beauford had been involved in an inspection where a car had been involved in an accident caused by not meeting the specifications! It later transpired that the car had been altered after the test. This is why they now take photos of all possible suspect areas that only just passed! I think that I might have responded similarly given the circumstances and he was not unreasonable, just ultra safe - good thing!

Is your local test centre over-zealous? I remember your note about needing
4mm plate for the seat belt anchors.
The IVA manual still shows that composites are acceptable (obviously with
guidance given re lay-up and load spreading), and all they state for metal
is that the welds should look to be good etc etc. I'm not, of course,
questioning what your experience of IVA  (I only have SVA experience), and
recognise this could be an issue because (strangely) there seem to be local
variations even though there is a manual/set of rules.
