That is similar to the joints that I had on my 2+2, I still had the failure 
problem after replacing it at around 200 miles. When the engine transplant was 
done we found that there was not enough packing on the offside engine mount and 
that was pulling the entire engine/gearbox assembly to one side. Not much but 
it would appear to have been sufficient to be putting additional strain on the 
joint. I was given advice on this by Jim I believe on this forum about the 
correct spacing.

I am having problems getting a replacement CV from my supplier - its
on Back order.
But have been offerred a different CV Joint claimed to fit the XR2

The alternative has a longer Body which gives a greater degree of
travel extension for the driveshaft within the housing
It is also heavier...

Has anyone encountered / used this type before?
