Do you have any pictures ?
I can't recall the Mk3 Fiesta having a fusebox on the battery terminal, i think that came in later.
So, it could be something the kit builder fitted.
If the 30 amp fuse is running most of the car then i'm not surprised if it blows and melts, that's not enough. Even just the engine would be close to 30 amps, the injectors, ignition system and fuel pump are normally fused separately at 20 amps each, plus the lambda (10amps) and ecu (5 amps).

Some pictures may help work out whats what, follow the wires from the fuses and see if you can see where they go. Also check how the thick wire on the alternator output is connected to the battery, does it go via the fuse ?

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Fuse box

Hello everyone
I have a H4 with an electrical fault. It is fitted with a Zetec 1.8i petrol injection engine. There is a three way fuse box that is mounted ( in my case ) above the battery casing which has overheated and melted. I have had problems before with it blowing a 30amp fuse which kills the engine and makes it impossible to start. This usually occurs when a lot of electrical things are running. I always carry a box of 30amp fuses to overcome this. However after being stuck in traffic for a long time it went into meltdown and needs replacement. Can anyone tell me where I can get one and what is causing the problem. The engine is otherwise reliable and a good runner.
ALL THE BEST
