Hi all,

We've been developing video plug-ins for After Effects, Motion, and
FCP with Quartz Composer (PlasmaFX for Digital Anarchy), and we've
noticed a tremendous difference between running video through .qtz
files in Tiger as opposed to Leopard.

The plug-ins run much faster through Tiger and are slow enough to be
embarrassing in Leopard, even through Quartz Composer itself. I'm
noticing that when I have a standard NTSC DV clip playing in Quartz
Composer in Leopard, hitting Command-T to drop down the published
parameters lags my Dual 2.66-Ghz Mac Pro with an nVidia 7300GT 256MB
graphics card. This same machine had Tiger on it and ran all of the
plug-ins smoothly with Final Cut Studio 2 prior to the Leopard
release.

Attempting to tweak or change any of my slider parameters causes the
system to hang for several seconds prior to actually changing, whereas
this same procedure in Tiger was extremely fluid and smooth; there's
almost no interactivity to be had in this new version of Quartz
Composer.

The plug-ins ran fine in Motion 2.1.2, fairly close to real-time
playback, but are just terribly slow in Motion 3, with only very
simple coloration plug-ins running in real-time.

We are fairly certain this slowdown is not on our end of the
programming, so we're just wondering if any other developers out there
are experiencing the same issues we are.
