After having read the Technical Q&A QA1505 on using QC.

http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2006/qa1505.html

In my DashCode widgets it seems that for widgets that there are no safe ways to read local files or from the verbage that even network services. How is possible then to get RSS data, read a XML file, etc. This tech note does not list "XML Downloader" but alludes to it!!! The ones it does list seem incomplete.

I have verified that if I use "XML Downloader" with a URL having "file://" as it's MIME type, that I do get the mentioned QC loading error about being unsafe.

So given that I've found out that not all the patches are listed on that Q&A list,

1) What is the full list of patches not supported?
2) What work around(s) would one be able to take to do things such as:
        a) read a local XML file?
        b) read a web based XML file?
        c) read a local directory?
3) If QC can't get a networked based data as alluded to in the Q&A note, what good is it really in a Webkit view whether in a Dashboard widget (where I want to use it) or in a browser?

Thanks for help, suggestions, ideas or further education on QC in this regard!
