Hello list,

I've got some very odd behavior with some work I did. It's a demo (as
in demoscene), made entirely with quartz composer. To make it self
contained I've embedded it in a .mov file (this is a bit of a hack,
but I had no time to do a proper app - I made the whole thing in one
day, at the party, on an old g4, and xcode wouldn't compile). I did
that by exporting as .mov, then adding the soundtrack as an audio
channel and setting the display to fullscreen, autoplay, and autoquit
etc. in quicktime.

The file is available here:
ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/psonice/numbers_postpartyV2.mov
And for reference, there's a video here: http://www.vimeo.com/1757858

The problem is that it doesn't play reliably. On some macs it plays
fine, on others it just shows a still image or a black screen and
plays the audio, but it's possible to see the demo by scrubbing with
the time bar, so there's nothing that can't play. It's leopard only by
the way - on tiger it very nicely plays the music and shows the ending
picture, which was a surprise bonus :D

So, does anyone know why it's not playing on every mac? Is it worth
asking in the quicktime list too?

For reference, I've tried it on:
Powerbook, g4 1.5ghz, 1gb ram, radeon 9700. Played fine (if a bit
slow, but that's to be expected)
iMac, core 2 2.8ghz, 4gb ram, radeon 2600. Played perfectly, but the
next day only played audio with a still image (nothing changed
between)
iMac, core 2 2.4ghz, 4gb ram, radeon 2400. Played audio only with still image.

Thanks,

Chris
