I'd like to be able to throw together slide show contents on the fly. I'm happy to do this outside of QC, but it'd be best to be able to make a folder and then throw a bunch of aliases inside. So far though, it seems to me that the Folder Images patch ignores folder aliases.
Directory Scanner successfully resolves image aliases, but you're right, it doesn't resolve folder aliases.
Is this correct? Is there a way to handle aliases within a folder structure? Am I overlooking something? Any pointers are appreciated.
Aliases are skipped-over by the patch, so there's nothing the structure can do to help you out here. Similarly, symbolic links are skipped-over as well.
Apologies if the answer is in the archives somewhere. Tips on proper forum usage are welcome also.
Your best bet is to file a feature request against the Directory Scanner patch. I'm not sure how quickly that'd get serviced though.
Another alternative might be to use the Directory Scanner (Blocking) patch on kineme.net -- it successfully traverses aliases and symbolic links. I can't remember if it's part of FileTools now or not though -- it's been a while since I've touched that patch, to be honest.
