The file that is created by Quartz Composer can be opened by
Quicktime, but it's not a rendered movie file — which means it's not
editable by imovie etc to my knowledge.
However, some apps like Screenflow do support QC's which you can 'edit'.

However, I the best option for you is probably QuartzCrystal, a 3rd
party wonderful little app by http://kineme.net/
I use and recommend it — it has rendering options like motion blur.
