I'm on Snow Leopard and iMovie 09.

I was under the impression that iMovie openly supported Quartz Compositions,
and you could import and use them in iMovie projects, but now that I've tried
it, I find it doesn't seem to be working. Is this something that is possible?
Has it changed in different versions of iMovie?

What I want to do is develop animations in Quartz Composer and then render and
edit them in iMovie, for eventual sharing (i.e. I need to render to standard
video files using common codecs, not quicktime-embedded quartz composition). I
would also like to overlay them on video if possible. Is this kind of thing
supported? If not, what tools do people recommend?

I have tried dragging .qtz files into iMovie, importing via the import command,
and importing quicktime movies exported from Quartz Composer. I was able to
achieve some results with quicktime files but the movie for some reason was
limited in duration to 30 seconds, truncating a good chunk of the animation.

So I'm at a loss of where I can take these Quartz Compositions .. I feel like
I'm in a walled runtime-render-only garden..!!

thanks in advance,
Rua Haszard Morris.
