As long as we're discussing alternatives to doing this in QC, I'll chime in to say that I ended up doing pitch tracking in a recent project using Max/MSP, then sending a normalized value for pitch to QC via OSC. Max/MSP has vastly more powerful audio tools than QC. For your purposes, you might be able to get a sufficiently close frequency match using QC's audio tools but I wouldn't count on it.
