Really? Ive had success with two different DV devices on the same bus on an 
older MBP, one on the 800 port with 8 pint to 4 cable, and one on the FW 400 
with a 6 pin to 4 using a Canon HV20 and an older Elura using a 
QTCaptureSession & QTCaptureVideoPreviewOutput. 

HD is a slightly different beast, as their are a variety of standards that use 
FW (HDV, DVCProHD, AVCHD etc) so bandwidth is more of a trick. Even one HDV 
stream live is tricky (even though its still 25Mbits/s same as DV, 
decompression is expensive).
