Well, I think you'll find - as others have pointed out - that you can only have one video stream active on a FW bus. It's the isochronous nature of FW video streams.
The only way you'll get multiple streams of video from FW is to have a separate FW Bus - which doesn't mean plugging it into another FW port - all ports built in on the Mac are one FW bus. You need a separate card entirely. A laptop's internal iSight is USB. There are decent USB webcams out there as well as bad ones. You just have to pick the right one.
