I don't have any experience with QuartzBuilder, so apologize if I get it wrong:

My understanding of QCView (the cocoa class for displaying compositions within 
a standalone app) is that it only gets a composition object, and it don't know 
"where" this composition is coming from (it may even been build up in RAM, not 
loaded from the hard disc). Therefor the QCView can't deal with "relative" 
paths used in Movie-Importer-patches. Either you fill in an absolute path in 
you composition, or you publish the path and your app has to fill in the 
correct path to the app bundles resource folder.

In BoinxTV we have lots of code to handle media files in document bundles, 
however I don't know how QuartzBuilder is handling it, thought.
