- looks like that you run out of VRAM - did you also check /Users/<YOUR USER>/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Plug-Ins - "did you try to turn it off and on again?" ;-) - restart? - maybe you are able to switch off the template chooser in QC with a terminal command in order to start QC without them?
